Optimise Ventilation

Heathrow Airport’s ambitious carbon reduction targets has led them to look at all types of energy efficiency measures including adapting ventilation to occupancy levels, while complying with GDPR.

Heathrow utilised our unique occupancy solution to dynamically control the AHUs at the departure gates. We are the only efficient solution that works in a highly dynamic environment, such as an airport.

SOLUTION

LightFi BASE Pro sensors successfully detected occupancy peaks just before each flight departure at the gate rooms, which could not be determined by gas based sensors (such as CO2, due to natural diffusion lag). The airport can now operate Demand Control Ventilation in these open plan departure gates with fast & high footfall turnover, with no negative effect on IAQ and comfort
